The sorceress caught up with the novice at the altar — the unfortunate woman hardly managed to offer a fervent prayer before the lethal spell struck her. Faith worked a miracle, preserving the life of the novice, but the magic also did its dark work. In the end, the novice merged with the altar itself, forming a horrific creature that immediately ripped the sorceress to shreds. In the morning, the servants of the Church of Dawn were terrified to discover the monster in the Cathedral. They imprisoned it in the Labyrinth, concealing what had transpired from the people of Ergam…
